Point by Point | Tyler Renae Thomson

15 June – 10 August, 2024

Point by Point is Tyler Renae Thomson’s debut solo exhibition. Through drawing and ceramics, the artist explores organic and visceral forms. Her reflective drawings evoke a vast cosmos, with dense clusters and voids in space. In her ceramics, lumps, holes, and spikes make up forms that have a strange animal-like quality. Much of Thomson’s work delves into the boundaries of our understanding of the natural world while prompting viewers to contemplate the mysteries of our universe.

Tyler Renae Thomson is a visual artist from Perth, Western Australia. Her focus is on ceramics and ink drawing. Having studied at North Metropolitan TAFE, she graduated in 2016 with an Advanced Diploma of Visual Arts and Craft and is currently studying ceramic skill sets at TAFE. She has won an award for best work on paper from the Ellenbrook Art Awards in 2023 and was a finalist for the Rockingham Art Prize for 2023 and 2024. At graduation she also won the Shine award from North Metropolitan TAFE, which was included in the exhibition by the same name the following year.
